Lola Kooi is an exciting new skincare range, I was very excited to be asked by the designer Martha Kimnell to be involved in the photography aspect of her product range. I was intrigued about the products and what inspired Martha to start her business. It was lovely to learn lots about Lola Kooi while photographing this fabulous range. What is Lola Kooi about?

Lola Kooi encourages women to realise their true worth and celebrate their God-given beauty. It is an inspiring community, a collection of premium skincare products and encouraging framed prints.

How did it all start?

When I had my little girl, almost five years ago, I knew I wanted her to grow into a strong, happy, and kind girl. I wanted her to be confident in who she was and what she’d stand for. I realised that I had a way to go myself, but that I wanted to grow in self-confidence and contentment, and support the women around me to too

What inspired you to start a business?

I visited a home for orphaned girls in India and was deeply moved by my experience there. These young girls had suffered neglect, abuse and injustice but with support and the encouragement of one another, had transformed into joyful, determined and generous girls. At the time I worked for one of the world’s largest luxury beauty brands, but I felt like I had never seen anything more beautiful. I came back from India determined that someone within the beauty industry just had to consider beauty more holistically. I wanted to empower young women to realise their true worth, and use my background in luxury skincare formulation to this end.

What products are there?

The first product I’m excited to share with you is our Cacao and Clay Face Mask! It is gently exfoliating, deeply cleansing and packed full of nutrients for the skin. Illuminate your skin in just ten minutes and enjoy the aroma of cacao, ylang ylang and patchouli. The other two products are both Flower Waters, in Orange Blossomand Rose, which will hydrate and gently cleanse skin. I’m also pleased to be able to unveil two encouraging prints real shortly. I hope that these will inspire self-confidence and know that they will look awesome in a beautiful copper frame, so watch out for those!
