When ‘the 3 of us’ became ‘the 4 of us’!

Hi guys, so sorry that I haven’t blogged for 4 whole months but I have been busy being pregnant!  Although I was still shooting early to mid pregnancy I decided to take it easy as I got nearer to my due date as carrying my camera equipment got harder as it felt heavier than usual and I was getting tired.  I really missed shooting weddings so I kept myself busy hobby shooting and totally indulged in a number of photography courses which were great fun and at the same time I gained lots of new skills to use at my 2014 wedding and lifestyle shoots! I can’t wait to put them into practice!

So, after planning for baby’s arrival for the past 9 months he is finally here!  3 weeks ago I gave birth to my beautiful baby boy Akash Singh Mehta, my son….yes MY son….OMG, I have a son! I am actually a mum to a little baby who needs to be looked after and cared for 24/7! As you can tell it still feels a bit surreal!  Amit and I decided to keep our baby’s gender a surprise as we felt it would really add to the excitement, which it totally did.  Bringing Akash into the world was the single most euphoric experience of my life, more so than I could have ever imagined! Amit & I have never been the broody type but on Friday 31st January 2014 at precisely 8.06 am, that totally changed as Akash finally arrived after a 26 hour labour (I now know why they call it labour!!)  We were instantly in awe of our baby and still are.

Choosing appropriate music for labour and birth was really important to me, I was looking for chilled out music to help me relax.  As I went through my music collection Amit had a great idea, simply switch on ‘Chill’ on our DAB radio! I don’t know why I didn’t think of this first as we listen to this station most nights! Well that was the music sorted and when the day came we had ‘Chill’ playing for the entire time.  So many lovely songs were played that I can never forget, now every time I hear any of these songs they take me straight back to those magical 26 hours – these songs are now a part of us.  Thank you Chill for playing such appropriate relaxing music with no ads, just continuous quality music (www.helpmechill.com).

So its been an interesting few weeks, I now know what other mums meant when they said they don’t have time to eat or make phone calls or type a text.  These past few weeks I have learnt that hot cups of tea soon become cold, warm buttered toast soon turns into cardboard, replying to a text message takes at least four attempts typing a few words at a time! ‘Is it worth it?’ I hear you ask. Yes! Yes, and Yes!! Totally!! When Akash gazes into my eyes and gives me his secret smile I don’t have the words to express how happy it makes me!

I feel so very grateful and incredibly blessed to have a beautiful baby, a wonderful husband and a lovely cat in my life!

I couldn’t help but capture some photographs even though I was under strict orders to rest…I didn’t want to miss capturing the early days of my Son’s life, memories for our family to cherish for ever.  I cannot wait to get them printed and up on my walls!

I have selected some images to share with you below.
